Shelter Enhancement Fund Program

What is the Shelter Enhancement Fund (SEF)?

The Shelter Enhancement Fund (SEF) provides funding to shelters and agencies that work with people who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of experiencing homelessness.

The funding is to help agencies to make upgrades to existing shelters and second state housing (designed to assist women and women with their children who have experienced family violence and need to live in safe and affordable housing while they make plans for independent living) and agencies, or to purchase equipment that is required to or continue their services and operations.

Who is eligible for the Shelter Enhancement Fund (SEF)?

Funding from the Shelter Enhancement Fund is available to community organizations such as: Non-government organizations* (NGOs), Community governments, and Indigenous Governments. Partnerships of these groups will also be considered.

Note: *Non-Government Organizations must be up to date with Corporate Registries.

What funding is available?

This total amount of this fund is $100,000 each year.

The assistance is in the form of a fully forgivable loan which does not have to be repaid, provided the owner adheres to the conditions of the funding Agreement and community organizations can apply for and receive funding for one year.
