Seniors Aging-in-Place Retrofits
Seniors Aging in Place Retrofits is a homeownership renovation program that focuses on energy-efficient retrofits for seniors homeowners.
The objective is to improve the sustainability of seniors to remain in their home community and age in place by implementing energy-saving retrofits that lower utility costs for seniors or other repairs that will improve the sustainability of the home.
Accessing this support will not exclude clients from accessing other Northwest Territories Housing Corporation (NWTHC) home repair programming such as preventative maintenance or emergency repair.
Who is eligible?
NWT residents who are 60 years of age or older that own their homes and do not have high incomes are able to access the program.
What kind of support?
The NWTHC will provide a forgivable loan of up to $10,000, the proceeds of which will go towards an energy retrofit project or other sustainability repair in the senior’s home. The loan is forgiven over 1 year. Residents are able to access other repair programming such as major
