What is the Homeownership Entry Level Program (HELP)?
HELP is intended for first-time homebuyers by providing an opportunity for persons who are not able to obtain mortgage financing or who are unsure of their abilities as homeowners, to assume the responsibilities of homeownership before purchasing a home; for example, tenants are responsible for the payment of utilities and the program offers homeownership educational opportunities through Solutions to Educating Persons (STEP) courses.
The program involves tenants leasing units from the NWTHC at affordable, standardized rents that are based on their geographic zones, and at any time within four (4) years of leasing, the tenant may purchase the unit from the NWTHC.
Who is eligible for the Homeownership Entry Level Program (HELP)?
Tenants of NWTHC Public Housing Program can apply for the HELP Program if they are interested in the idea of becoming homeowners.
If you are a Senior Adult, (60 years and older) you can apply at any time for assistance under any housing program.
What funding is available?
A purchase incentive of $20,000 is provided for purchasing the unit within two (2) years of leasing, and $10,000 if it is purchased between two (2) to four (4) years of leasing and after four years, rents are increased for tenants who want to remain leasing the units.
