Purchase Support

PATH (Providing Assistance for Territorial Homeownership)

PATH is the program that provides homeownership assistance to NWT residents. Under this program the ability to obtain bank financing is only a requirement when project costs to build or purchase a modest home exceeds the amount of assistance they can receive through the program. Assistance levels are determined by zones, and range between 5% and 55% of the purchase price or the Maximum Construction Cost (MCC), whichever is less. Applicants with moderate income, income over the CNIT, will be eligible for 50% of the subsidy. The amounts being determined using income level, family size and the community based construction costs. Those living in remote areas receive higher assistance levels relative to those living in communities with year round access assuming similar incomes.
