Aging in Place

Minor Home Repair for Seniors

Overview
The Seniors Aging-in-Place funding is available for residents 60 and older to lower energy costs or to do home repairs to enable independent living in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

Available Funding
A forgivable loan up to $15,000 over one year is available.

More than one repair application could be approved in the same year as long as the repairs were unrelated, and the annual total did not exceed $15,000.

For applicants whose household income is over $59,999, they will be required to co-pay 10% of the repair costs. The applicant’s portion must be paid prior to the start of the repairs.

Note: You may also apply to other repair programs for other home repairs and enhancements.

The application intake period is April 1 – October 31, annually.
Applicants will be notified within 60 days of intake deadline.
